Yeh, I start with potting soil, then add to it with what I can find. My space is limited, as I have what amounts to an overgrown spice garden. I'm in Seattle, and my deck faces south, so I get the winter sun. I'm experimenting, so as to find what does and does not work. I grow anything from purslane, to Mizuna, to Basil, to general salad greens.
