Joanna,

I am currently in Thailand wrapping up a symposium on mineral nutrition of fruit crops. Rock powders are not known much here but I did see a silicon product in a fertilizer outlet which I would guess to be calcium silicate.  Do you have some contacts in Thailand?

I live in Phayao, Northern Thailand and am establishing the Phayao Permaculure Center on 7500 Sq. meters of farmland using Permaculure principles.  It is a demonstration garden/farm of permaculture planning and implementation principles.

 I am an advocate of rock dust and remineralizing the Earth and use a fine grain sand available here in Northern Thailand from the sand suppliers. I think it is used in finish plastering.as it is fairly fine.

I spread it on my composting in place Permaculture strategy along with rice straw, worms, pig and cow manures.  It is my attempt to remineralize the Earth and provide plant nutrients in place where I plant my trees, vegetables, fruits, etc.
